Covid-19 Guidance

March 8, 2020

At this time, QFX East is scheduled to take place as planned. To help our attendees better understand the steps we are taking to ensure a healthy, fun weekend, we have compiled the information below.

QFX is closely monitoring the continuing developments pertaining to COVID-19, including travel restrictions issued by the U.S. Government, following guidelines and procedures set forth by the World Health Organization (WHO) and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as talking with our peer organizations.  We want to assure everyone planning to attend QFX East that safety and security are our top priorities.

At this time, QFX East is scheduled to take place as planned. To help our attendees better understand the steps we are taking to ensure a healthy, fun weekend, we have compiled the information below:

PRE-EVENT GUIDANCE

PROTECTIVE MEASURES IN TAMPA

  • As of now, there are a total of three confirmed coronavirus cases in the Tampa Bay area and those individuals are currently in isolation
  • Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a level II emergency response to ensure the entire state has the necessary resources to prevent further spread
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA) is complying with the travel restrictions set forth and implemented by the U.S. government

PROTECTIVE/PREVENTATIVE MEASURES AT HOST HOTEL (HILTON TAMPA DOWNTOWN)

  • Additional hand sanitation stations to be placed in and around meeting space
  • Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting procedures for ALL common areas and items (menus, elevators, etc.) in the center, following the recommendations of the CDC and WHO
  • Consistent collaboration with local and state authorities to remain up-to-date on protocols

PROTECTIVE/PREVENTATIVE MEASURES BY QFX

  • Collaboration with local health authorities to implement a preparedness plan that will include quick access to emergency rooms and/or walk-in clinics
  • Medically-trained volunteers onsite at QFX East
  • Single-use, paper cups available throughout the weekend at all water stations to prevent the spread of germs from surface contact
  • Availability of alcohol-based hand sanitizer in and around all areas of the venue as well as gloves and masks (for those who may be symptomatic)
  • Coordination with vendors to allow card payments in lieu of cash at their tables when at all possible

We know that this situation can be concerning, especially since this is a new virus and so many things about it are still unknown. However, the single most important thing that you can do to prevent infection and transmission of any virus is by using appropriate hygiene and washing your hands with warm water and soap (for at least 20 seconds) on a regular basis, especially when in public areas.

To get a feel for what 20 seconds feels like, it’s the chorus from ‘Good as Hell’ by Lizzo, repeated twice, as shown below.

I do my hair toss

Check my nails

Baby how you feelin'?

Feeling good as hell

Hair toss

Check my nails

Baby how you feelin'?

Feeling good as hell
